Andrea Zuppi est un chercheur postdoctoral qui a rejoint le LESC-EREA en août 2021. Ses recherches portent sur les Kulina (arawá), un peuple du sud-ouest de l’Amazonie, parmi lesquels il a réalisé un terrain ethnographique de douze mois (2018-2019). Dans sa thèse, il étudie les pratiques chamaniques kulina et les mettant en relation avec différents changements sociaux, tels que l’abandon des rituels, les transformations dans la manière de concevoir et traiter la maladie, les mutations dans les croyances eschatologiques. Dans sa recherche postdoctorale en cours, Andrea poursuit l’étude du lien entre pratiques chamaniques et changements sociaux chez les Kulina, cette fois sous un angle différent : les pratiques contraceptives et le symbolisme du sang menstruel. Avant de se consacrer à l’étude des Kulina, Andrea a réalisé des recherches ethnographiques en Europe (France et Italie) sur la relation homme-animal dans le contexte de la chasse.

Andrea Zuppi is a postdoctoral researcher who joined LESC-EREA in August 2021. His research focuses on the Kulina (arawá), a people of southwestern Amazonia, among whom he conducted a twelve-month ethnographic fieldwork (2018-2019). In his doctoral thesis, Andrea studies Kulina shamanic practices and relates them to different social changes affecting Kulina social life as a whole, such as the abandonment of rituals, transformations in the way of conceiving and treating illness and mutations in eschatological beliefs. In his current post-doctoral research, Andrea continues to study the link between shamanic practices and social changes among the Kulina, this time from a different angle: contraceptive practices and the symbolism of menstrual blood. Before dedicating himself to the study of the Kulina, Andrea has conducted ethnographic research in Europe (France and Italy) on the topic human-animal relationship in the context of hunting.
